Hi Prajakt Rebeloma here. I was 22 Yrs Old When i decided to make a feature film. So i made my debut in hindi bollywood movie "Lastbenchers" as Director, Writer, Actor, Lyricist, Singer and Editor. And I edited my 2 hours 28 minutes feature film on Final Cut Pro X ( Fcpx). I finished my final edit within 35 days in November 2013.

Here are some of the reasons i choose FCPX version 10.3.
1st. I never went to any film school, never assisted anyone before in movies. So i really didn't know what it's like to edit a feature film. By the way, before lastbenchers i never even made a short film or music video. So lastbenchers was my first step in film-making. I was really confused which software to choose but then i bought apple macbook pro. Before that i used to use windows but now i was doing everything on mac and fcpx was apple product so i gave my first preference to installing apple's own product. The first impression i got from fcpx was "wow, it's user interface is really clean". Compared to Adobe Premiere pro and all the other softwares out there, fcpx really seemed nice. User interface matters when you are editing for the first time.
2nd. When i tested fcpx with some footages, edit was smooth and render was extremely fast. Then i accidentally quit fcpx but had nothing to worry about as it saves project automatically so i was editing worry free that even if something goes wrong my project will be saved. By the way Sanket Galactus ( Cinematographer of Lastbenchers) shot on APS-C sensor DSLR cameras. Importing was easy, cutting h.264 was easy and as beginner, i wanted all the steps to be super easy.
3rd. Biggest Reason I chose FCPX - It was an Apple product. You buy shares of companies whose value will increase over time. I wanted to invest my time, money and talent on software which will be future of Industry. Apple discontinued Final Cut Pro 7 which was indicating me that apple will concentrate more on Fcpx in future. So may in 2013 final cut pro x may not be professional editor's first choice but after some years more and more people will start using it. I was thinking about 2020 when i will be 31 yr old and then the decision of editing my first feature film on fcpx will seem right. Overall, i was thinking about future of editing.
Here are the problems i faced while editing of Final Cut Pro X.
If the project was above 50 minutes, it would take time to load projects and events.
Importing too much footages ( I imported nearly 6,000 clips in single event ) slowed down my computer.
It doesn't work good with some plugins. Every time i used some plugin, project crased so i had to keep shifting from my macbook pro to my imac to my mac pro.
I counldn't import my project in after effects.
Software crashed nearly 350 times while completing project.
Green frame which i call glitches were present in video when i exported my sequences.
Lack of in-built plugins and effects. Even a simple tool like curves was not present in Final Cut Pro X. Faced lot of problem while color grading.
Exporting with compressor was killing too much time.
Had to buy many third party plugins.
Even If i have faced many problems, i am sticking to fcpx. Like i said now there is multicam edit and many different features apple added in latest updates. In future, may be after two to three years final cut pro x will become industry standard. If you are a beginner then you should probably invest your time in something which in future will pay for your hardwork and efforts.
